Foster Care Awareness Forum

CHJC is partnering with local organizations to host two Foster Care Awareness Forums on Thursday, May 27, 2021. The forums offer North Country members the opportunity to have informal discussions on what foster care is, and is not, as well as what foster care means to the community.

While finding suitable foster families is instrumental to ensuring the safety of the youth, having a strong support system in the community is also vital to strengthening the wellbeing of the youth and their families. Community members are encouraged to attend and learn about the needs of foster youth and the procedures by which the youth are placed into foster care as well as the family reunification processes. The forum will offer a unique opportunity to speak with community leaders in an informal setting.

The forum will feature representatives from several event partners including the North Country Regional Center for Independent Living (NCRIL), Jefferson County Department of Social Services (JCDSS), House of the Good Shepherd (HGS), and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).

Online registration is available at https://fcaf.eventbrite.com. Or you may RSVP by calling (315) 788-7430. Please indicate which session you will be attending. Reservations are requested by Wednesday, May 26.
